1. Boiler
A boiler is a closed vessel that heats a fluid (usually water). The fluid does not always boil. The heated or vaporized fluid exits the boiler and can be used in a variety of processes or heating applications, such as water heating, central heating, boiler-based power generation, cooking, and sanitation.
2. Distillation Column
A distillation column is a critical piece of equipment used in the distillation of liquid mixtures to separate the mixture into its component parts, or fractions, based on differences in volatilities. Fractionating columns are used in both small-scale laboratory and large-scale industrial distillations.
3. Gas Turbine
The gas turbine is the engine that generates electric current at the heart of a power plant. A gas turbine is a type of combustion engine that converts mechanical energy from natural gas or other liquid fuels. This energy is then used to power a generator, which generates electrical energy. Electrical energy travels from power lines to residences and businesses.
4. Centrifugal Compressor
A centrifugal compressor is a type of dynamic compressor or turbo-compressor with a radial design. Unlike displacement compressors, which operate at a constant flow, dynamic compressors operate at a constant pressure, and their performance is influenced by external conditions such as changes in inlet temperatures.
5. Cooling Tower
A cooling tower is a specialized heat exchanger that brings air and water into direct contact with each other in order to reduce the temperature of the water. As a result, a small amount of water evaporates, lowering the temperature of the water circulated through the tower.
6. Steam Trap
Steam traps are a type of automatic valve that filters out condensate (i.e. condensed steam) and non-condensable gases such as air without letting steam escape. In industry, steam is used regularly for heating or as a driving force for mechanical power.
7. Screw Compressor
Rotary screw compressors supply production processes in industry, trade and workshop applications with a reliable supply of quality compressed air. They are the preferred choice for users requiring constant pressure over prolonged periods.
8. Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump
Liquid ring vacuum pumps are rotating positive displacement machines providing process vacuum in industrial applications such as chemical, electrical power, environmental, food & beverage processing and packaging, marine, mining, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, pulp & paper, and textiles.
9. Condenser Vacuum Pump
The liquid ring vacuum pump, which can be started up without using steam, can immediately create a large-capacity vacuum when supplied with electric power and water. The pump’s simple structure, which is designed for continuous rotation, reduces vibrations and noise, and enables easy maintenance.
10. Plate Type Heat Exchanger
A plate heat exchanger is a type of heat exchanger that uses metal plates to transfer heat between two fluids. This has a major advantage over a conventional heat exchanger in that the fluids are exposed to a much larger surface area because the fluids are spread out over the plates.
11. Pig Launcher & Receiver
Pigging in the maintenance of pipelines refers to the practice of using pipeline inspection gauges or 'pigs' to perform various operations on a pipeline without stopping the flow of the product in the pipeline. This is accomplished by inserting the pig into a Pig Launcher.
12. Petroleum Refinery
Petroleum refining processes are the chemical engineering processes and other facilities used in petroleum refineries (also referred to as oil refineries) to transform crude oil into useful products such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), gasoline or petrol, kerosene, jet fuel, diesel oil and fuel oils.

13. Coriolis Meter
A Coriolis meter is based on the principles of motion mechanics. When the process fluid enters the sensor, it is split. During operation, a drive coil stimulates the tubes to oscillate in opposition at the natural resonant frequency.
14. Pump
A pump is a device that moves fluids (liquids or gases), or sometimes slurries, by mechanical action, typically converted from electrical energy into hydraulic energy. Pumps can be classified into three major groups according to the method they use to move the fluid: direct lift, displacement, and gravity pumps.
15. Instrumentation
Instrumentation is a collective term for measuring instruments that are used for indicating, measuring and recording physical quantities. The term has its origins in the art and science of scientific instrument-making.
16. Industrial Accidents
An industrial accident is a serious event that involves hazardous materials and that can have consequences for the surrounding population and environment. Depending on the nature of the products involved, the accident can take the form of a fire, an explosion or the emission of toxic or radioactive material.
17. Shell & Tube Heat Exchanger
A shell and tube heat exchanger is a class of heat exchanger designs. It is the most common type of heat exchanger in oil refineries and other large chemical processes, and is suited for higher-pressure applications.
18. Bernoulli's Principle
Air moving over the curved upper surface of the wing will travel faster and thus produce less pressure than the slower air moving across the flatter underside of the wing. This difference in pressure creates lift which is a force of flight that is caused by the imbalance of high and low pressures.
19. Blowout Preventer (BOP)
A blowout preventer (BOP) (pronounced B-O-P, not "bop") is a specialized valve or similar mechanical device, used to seal, control and monitor oil and gas wells to prevent blowouts, the uncontrolled release of crude oil or natural gas from a well. They are usually installed in stacks of other valves.
20. Hydraulic System
Hydraulics is a technology and applied science using engineering, chemistry, and other sciences involving the mechanical properties and use of liquids. At a very basic level, hydraulics is the liquid counterpart of pneumatics, which concerns gases.
21. Ultrasonic Flowmeter
An ultrasonic flow meter can be defined as, a meter that is used to measure liquid velocity with ultrasound to analyze the volume of liquid flow. This is a volumetric flow meter that needs bubble or minute particles within the liquid flow.
22. Storage Tanks/Vessel
Storage tanks are containers that hold liquids, compressed gases (gas tank; or in U.S.A "pressure vessel", which is not typically labeled or regulated as a storage tank) or mediums used for the short- or long-term storage of heat or cold.
23. Desalter
A desalter is a process unit in an oil refinery that removes salt from the crude oil. The salt is dissolved in the water in the crude oil, not in the crude oil itself. The desalting is usually the first process in crude oil refining. The salt content after the desalter is usually measured in PTB - pounds of salt per thousand barrels of crude oil.
